J.M. Snell - Executive Vice President

J.M. is one of the owners of Valley Renovators and is very active in our community. He currently helps with soccer as the Director of Recreational League and VP of Shenandoah Valley United which used to be Harrisonburg Soccer Association. He is the current (2016) President of the Home Builders Association of Virginia. J.M. also works with Boy Scouts of America having served as District Chairman for 3 years and currently as Finance Chair for Massanutten District. He is a member of the Harrisonburg Lions Club and the Elks and is in his second term on the Harrisonburg Planning Commission.  J.M. has also been a Vice-Chair for the MS Society Dinner of Champions for the past 3 years.

Betty I. Snell - Secretary / Treasurer

Betty I Snell, moved from Grant County, WV to the Shenandoah Valley in 1995. In 1996 she married C. Darrell Haslacker and along with her son, J.M. Snell, they started Valley Renovators. Betty brings to the business her skills in office management and bookkeeping, while living in West Virginia she was a Deputy Assessor for 7 1/2 years, bookkeeper at the local farm service for 2 1/2 years and worked part time at the local hotel as a receptionist. She is currently Secretary/Treasurer and a partner in Valley Renovators, Inc.

Raphael "Rafe" Snell - VP of Operations

Raphael "Rafe" Snell is a native of Petersburg WV and currently resides in Harrisonburg with his wife Jan. Rafe is a US Navy "Seabee" veteran who served as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He spent many years working as an equipment operator, welder / fabricator, heavy highway consultant, and was a former Project Manager at Valley Renovators. He left VRI to attend university and pursue a teaching career in North Central WV. Rafe is a graduate of Fairmont State University with a BA Ed. in Social Studies education and also has a MA Ed. in Digital Media and New Learning Literacy from Fairmont State. He taught and retired from Harrison County Schools in March of 2024 and came to VRI team as the current VP of Operations. Rafe's responsibilities are managing VRI's field operations, Project Managers, and project scheduling. His 39-plus years of experience in the many different facets of construction brings a fresh insight to managing the field operations of VRI's projects.
